it was advertised as "franguinho" [tender chicken]

I would not have posted this if it hadn't been sent to me by a Mozambican, Joao, my friend and colleague. But it was.

Mozambicans, generally, are really chill with a sharp sense of humor. He wrote me: "Hey! This is not funny for American people, but is delicious in Mozambique. Come on, try it; mmmm, very good! I did! Joao"

People in northern Sofala province love it, Joao tells me, and not just poor people.

This is NOT typical Mozambican fare. It IS sometimes eaten. To me what is hilarious how they call it "tender chicken", with a wink.
