The rains continue to come and go in furious sprints.
Babies and moms continue to ficar doente (get sick), engordar (fatten, or get healthy), and sometimes die at the clinic. Too much to say, too much to think, too much to feel.
I made falafel and pita bread last week in a last ditch effort to cook real food for myself and salvage my health. It turned out so well I made it all again the next day and froze it for later.
Mom and Dad arrive in one week exactly.
Here's how I spent Christmas Eve at Lake Malawi. It was short on "O Come O Come Emmanuel", but pretty nice anyhow, especially biking.

On Christmas Day I went sailing with a Malawian man named Captain Kenneth.
Weird.

Captain Kenneth? Not a very good Captain name. . . :) How about Captain Kwame or Captain O. Captain :). Happy family time!

Brooke,
I'm thinking that you probably got enough bike riding done in Malawi. So now you won't want to go on a BIKE through a WILD GAME RESERVE when we get there.
Right???
Mom
Wrong.
Nice to see you online! We join you on the African continent in 2 weeks... albeit, a few kms away from you! Hope to catch up with you sometime soon!

I miss you and your quirky posts. Hope you're having the best time ever with the parental units. Hi Mr. and Mrs. Wyssmann!
This summer, baby. You and me and the beauty that is MN in the summertime. I've never been there in the summer, but surely it's pretty, right? Right. Be there or be square.
